Tolivia is a gifted vocalist, composer, and performer at the intersection of Contemporary R&B and Neo-soul. Born in Monterey, California, and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland, she draws from a rich tapestry of cultural influences that shape her unique musical voice.
Her passion for music ignited at a young age, leading her to participate in various choirs and ultimately honing her craft at Suitland High School's prestigious Visual and Performing Arts program.
There, she received classical training that set the foundation for her artistic expression, which earned her a scholarship to Cleveland State University. Tolivia graduated with a Bachelor of Music, specializing in Voice Performance with a classical concentration.
Influenced by iconic artists such as Luther Vandross, Bob Marley, Anita Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, D'Angelo, Jhene Aiko, and Jazmine Sullivan, Tolivia understands music as a powerful medium for storytelling and connection. Inspired by her maternal grandmother, a talented gospel singer, she crafts songs that resonate deeply with audiences.
Her sound is a distinctive fusion of experimental jazz elements and emotive R&B, characterized by rich melodies and intricate arrangements.
